Why people store a car here
Where to keep a car you're not driving in Lawrence.
Lawrence is short on places to leave a car. A car can't sit on a city street for more than 48 hours, an unregistered car can't be kept in a yard, and KU parking permits are sold by class standing, with freshmen buying last. The car storage guide covers the rules in detail.
Here you have two options at one gate. A paved, uncovered parking space is the simplest choice for a car you still drive on weekends. A drive-up 10x20 unit keeps a car behind a locked door, out of the sun, hail and snow, and a 20x20 holds a car plus furniture, tires and tools.
The facility is about 10 minutes from KU and 6 minutes from Haskell. The gate is open 6 AM to 10 PM every day, rentals are month-to-month, and checkout asks for the vehicle's registration and proof of insurance.

Quick answers.
Can you store a car in a storage unit?
Yes. A 10x20 drive-up unit fits most cars and mid-size SUVs, and a 20x20 holds a car plus other belongings. Keep the car registered and insured, and plan for the battery, since units and parking spaces have no power outlet.
Is the vehicle parking covered?
No. Parking spaces are paved, open-air and behind a gate with cameras. For a covered option, park the car inside a drive-up unit instead.
What do I need to rent a space?
A photo ID plus the vehicle's license (registration), proof of ownership and proof of insurance for whatever you're parking, trailers included. Checkout asks for all three. The vehicle or trailer needs to be in running or towable condition.
How long can a car sit on the street in Lawrence, KS?
No more than 48 hours in one spot. The Code of the City of Lawrence makes longer street parking unlawful, and the car can be towed after notice.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Parking is month-to-month. Stay for one season or year-round; give 10 days' notice when you're done. Every new parking rental also comes with a 12-month rate guarantee: your monthly rate won't go up during your first 12 months.
How do I get the discount?
Students get 15% off with a valid student ID, and active-duty military, veterans and first responders get 15% off. Mention it when you sign up and we apply it to your account. Student and military discounts cannot be combined with each other or with the move-in offer.
